Monday, December 8- The first miles in the southern hemisphere!
The eight women of The Famous Project CIC crossed the equator yesterday (Sunday, December 8) at 6:15 p.m. French time, after 8 days, 3 hours, and 35 minutes.

This first waypoint marks a turning point in this attempt to set a record for a round-the-world voyage with an all-female crew, as the eight women on IDEC Sport have just entered the Southern Hemisphere. It is the start of a new adventure, particularly for Deborah Blair, for whom this was a first.
Alexia Barrier‘s words
“… ahead of us, an almost straightforward route—with two or three Brazilian squalls that will come to say hello, like overly enthusiastic neighbors. And then, to starboard, those names on the map, Salvador de Bahía, Rio de Janeiro. Names that evoke music, salt, memories, names I have already encountered on other races, on other boats, at other times when I thought I was already living the adventure of my life.
Ah, Rio… The last time I arrived there, I was alone in IMOCA, completely exhausted, and I still remember the oil rigs shining at night like cities suspended above the water. The storms were raging like devils that had been disturbed too soon. This time, I hope they will be in a gentler mood when we pass through in less than 48 hours.
In a week, if all goes well, we will be south of Cape Town…”
