IDEC SPORT, a passion for sport

IDEC SPORT is an entity in its own right, the sporting arm of the IDEC Group, bringing together all its partnerships under a single banner. Although Patrice Lafargue is passionate about motor sport, his competitive spirit has led him to invest in a number of sports, including football with Vineuil Football Club and Martigues Football Club, Top 14 rugby with Aviron Bayonnais and USON Nevers, and basketball with Metropolitans 92 and Union Poitiers Basket 86.

IDEC SPORT also has its own LMP2 and LMP3 racing team. The IDEC SPORT team took part in the Le Mans 24 Hours for the 7th time during its centenary year in 2023. The team also competes in the European Le Mans Series in LMP2 with Paul Lafargue, Paul-Loup Chatain and Laurents Hörr at the wheel. The team is also taking part in the Michelin Le Mans Cup in LMP3, with its two LMP3 drivers, Dino Lunardi and IDEC GROUP chairman Patrice Lafargue.

IDEC SPORT is particularly marked by its partnership with Francis Joyon, which has lasted over twenty years, with numerous successes such as the maxi-trimaran IDEC SPORT, holder of the Jules Verne Trophy (crewed round-the-world race completed in 2017 in 40 days, 23 hours and 30 minutes). Or Francis Joyon’s record for the 2018 Route du Rhum single-handed race in 7 days 14 hours and 21 minutes.

IDEC SPORT is sponsoring the Famous Project, led by Alexia Barrier, an all-female crew aiming to conquer the Jules Verne Trophy, this year and in 2025. Alexia has been an ocean racer since she was a teenager, and has already competed in the Route de l’Equateur in 2007 and the Route du Rhum in 2018. In 2020, she will complete her first solo Vendée Globe. Alexia and her team-mates hold 12 round-the-world records, 28 world records and 16 championship titles. They are therefore the 7 best female sailors in the world who have been chosen for this challenge.

IDEC SPORT is proud to be represented in 2023-2024 by multi-sport athlete Emma Clair Dumont. Emma climbed Everest in 2022, ran 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days and crossed Africa on a quad bike. IDEC SPORT has also been supporting disabled cycling athlete Raphaël Beaugillet since 2020. Finally, rugby player Axelle Berthoumieu, who plays alongside the Blagnac squad and in the French national team, will be sponsored by IDEC SPORT for this new season.
