The World Sailing Speed Record Council (WSSRC) has officially certified the record set by Alexia Barrier and the seven female sailors aboard the IDEC SPORT maxi-trimaran. The crew completed their round-the-world voyage in a multihull with an all-female crew in 57 days, 21 hours, and 20 minutes, thereby setting a new world record.

This exceptional achievement, accomplished on January 26, 2026, after sailing more than 21,600 nautical miles around the globe, marks a significant milestone in the history of ocean sailing.
It also highlights the remarkable longevity of the IDEC SPORT trimaran, which, despite more than twenty years of sailing and the challenges encountered during this attempt, once again enabled a dedicated crew to achieve a major sporting feat alongside Alexia Barrier and her team.

Pushing the limits through the power of teamwork
Setting sail from Brest on November 29, 2025, the eight female sailors tackled the world’s most demanding oceans. From the Atlantic to the Southern Seas, from the Pacific to Cape Horn, they had to contend with sometimes extreme weather conditions and several technical failures, without ever giving up on their goal.
This success is above all that of a dedicated team, driven by a shared desire to excel and push boundaries. Aboard IDEC SPORT, the sailors demonstrated that trust, complementary talents, and determination make it possible to tackle the most ambitious challenges.
Their arrival in Brest marked much more than a record: it symbolized the success of an extraordinary human endeavor.

IDEC SPORT, partner of an inspiring adventure
IDEC SPORT has always supported projects that embody boldness, innovation, and the pursuit of performance. By supporting The Famous Project CIC, IDEC SPORT chose to partner with a meaningful initiative that combines athletic ambition, social commitment, and environmental responsibility.
Through this challenge, Alexia Barrier and her crew delivered a powerful message in support of women’s place in elite sports. Their adventure demonstrates the ability of new generations of female sailors to excel at the highest level of international competition. It is also part of an effort to raise awareness about ocean conservation, a cause central to the sailor’s commitments and those of her organization, 4myplanet.
For IDEC SPORT, this partnership reflects shared values: team spirit, perseverance, innovation, and a constant drive to open up new horizons.

“For over twenty years, the IDEC SPORT trimaran has proven its ability to tackle the greatest oceanic challenges. Seeing Alexia Barrier and her crew make history aboard this boat is a source of immense pride. Beyond the record, this is above all an exceptional human adventure, driven by committed, talented, and determined women. This project perfectly illustrates the values we champion at IDEC SPORT: boldness, teamwork, and pushing one’s limits.” Patrice Lafargue, President of the IDEC Group
