ELMS: START YOUR ENGINE!

IDEC SPORT RACING will be in Monza on 28th and 29th March for the prologue to the 2017 European Le Mans Series with a new weapon – the Ligier JSP217 LMP2.

After Mugello last week for the 24 Hr Series, IDEC SPORT RACING will be back in Italy for the ELMS prologue at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza. This early season test will bring together 41 cars on 28th and 29th March allowing each team to find their marks and see how they measure up against their rivals. The four IDEC SPORT drivers, Patrice Lafargue, Paul Lafargue, Olivier Pla and David Zollinger will have an opportunity to discover the track on Monday afternoon with the “track walk”, an essential step in getting to know the circuit, even if the competition has not yet started.

The drivers already got to know their JSP217 during the first trial sessions earlier this month, including most recently at Magny-Cours, but they will gain some more driving time at this Italian event with a possible 14 hours on the track. Three sessions are planned for Tuesday 28th March: one in the morning (9-12), one in the afternoon (2-5), and an evening session (7-9). Six hours of trials are scheduled for Wednesday 29th March, from 9-12 and 2-5.

Of course, this prologue will offer the drivers an opportunity to find out more about the car, to deal with the other racers and get used to driving in the dark, but it also an opportunity for the various teams to practice driver changes and refuelling.

While Olivier Pla and David Zollinger will be taking it in turns at the wheel during the season, the two men will both be present at the legendary Monza circuit alongside Patrice and Paul Lafargue in order to prepare for the 2017 season. The eleven bends in the 5.793 km of the European temple of racing in the North of Italy should offer high speeds making this an ideal event for the P2, IDEC SPORT RACING.

While Monza will host the prologue and second leg (14th May) the season will get underway at Silverstone on 15th April.
