Sunday, December 21 – With the Jules Verne Trophy, you learn to endure
For the past few days, Alexia Barrier and the seven sailors aboard the IDEC SPORT maxi trimaran have been sailing in another world, the Indian Ocean. High speeds, maintained over time. A boat that flies. A more organized sea. A rhythm that settles in.

As Alexia says: “At sea, going fast isn’t the hardest part. The real challenge is staying alert. Sleeping well despite the noise, the shocks, the speed. Continuing to eat well, make good decisions, and work well together when the intensity never lets up.
You learn to listen to the boat. To sense when it’s doing well. To anticipate before it asks. To find the right tempo, the one that allows you to keep going not for a few hours… but for days.
Three weeks of life on board. A lot of work. A little carefree. Enormous determination. And an undiminished desire to see it through to the end.The sea teaches us one essential thing: performance is not a peak. It is a trajectory. Passing a cape at Christmas, in the middle of the Indian Ocean, is not insignificant. It is a symbol. A symbol of consistency. Of long-term commitment. And of teamwork.“

As we approach Cape Leeuwin, our second cape, which we will cross around Christmas, we can see how far we have come. What we are doing is not perfect. It is not always fast. But it is solid.
Six months ago, the crew had not yet set sail. The goal of The Famous Project CIC is simple to state, but immense to achieve: to become the first female crew to complete a round-the-world voyage in a giant multihull.
In this crazy desire to succeed, we support you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEX
This Sunday, December 21, is also another big day for the woman nicknamed “BEX,” as it is her birthday. The Swiss-New Zealander is above all a first-rate teammate: a rigger by trade, she is fearless and 100% committed to what she does.
