2019 Le Mans 24-Hour Race: IDEC SPORT successfully completes its programme during the test day

The Oreca #48, IDEC SPORT clocked up the miles without any major problems during the test day. The scheduled programme was completed and the data acquired will be useful during the race.

The test day is over and IDEC SPORT got the tenth best time in LMP2s on this first day oçf driving on the legendary Le Mans track. The car was reliable and the drivers were at ease in the car and the team well organised. They ran through the whole programme although IDEC SPORT has not yet taken off at high speed, as Nicolas Minassian, the team’s race director, explains: “The test day helps you build on the foundations we laid down last year adding in what we have learnt this year. The drivers found their marks and worked on the various aspects which will affect their performance. We carried out a major evaluation of the various types of tyre. We had to test the life span and performance to identify when we should change them. We also worked on the fuel consumption to see how long we take for each stint and the number of pit stops. We also worked on the set up and the aerodynamics,” added Nicolas Minassian.

“We ran through everything we wanted to. It was a complicated day because of the safety cars and slow zones. The performance did not represent what we are capable of doing. We are confident in the car. We didn’t get a clear lap because of all the other cars. If we add together our best parts, we were among the best,” said the head of racing.

The IDEC SPORT team is now going to look through what happened during the test day and analyse the results before the official trials during race week in Le Mans, which starts on Wednesday 12th June. Don’t miss all the news about Le Mans and follow IDEC SPORT on social networks.
