Successful dress rehearsal for Team IDEC SPORT during official test day

During this test day, the two crews of Team IDEC SPORT Racing had the opportunity to test their cars and (re)familiarize themselves with this unusual, temporary circuit, which is only open on this day and during race week. Everything is in order for the French team.

Divided into two sessions, these pre-tests are essential, on the one hand, to validate the settings for the upcoming test and qualifying days on Wednesday, June 11, and Thursday, June 12. They are also mandatory for the 62 competitors (teams and cars) entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and drivers who have never participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, as is the case for Jamie Chadwick, Mathys Jaubert, and Sébastian Alvarez.

They completed the minimum 10 laps required and everything went well for our three rookies. They got off to the best possible start, without any mistakes, on a day punctuated by safety cars, yellow flags, and red flags. They didn’t get quite as much track time as expected, but they showed that they were capable of performing well. As team principal and former driver (17 participations), seeing them smile even with their helmets still on as they got out of the car is more than exciting. It’s clearly not easy to tackle this unusual track, which alternates between slow and very fast sections in the blink of an eye. They know what they have to do. I feel that they are starting to feel confident while keeping in mind the mistakes they must not make,” says Nicolas Minassian, Team Principal.

A productive day

Before concluding, “I am also satisfied with the work done by the entire team. We have reorganized a few positions, particularly around the cars, as we are going from three mechanics to four, for example. We were able to work through our to-do list and focus on issues such as tire degradation, fuel management, and a few race strategies. So overall, it was a successful day. Now it’s time for the race, even though for us, the race has already been underway for a few weeks.

See you on Wednesday, June 11 for free practice, which will begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by hyperpole at 6:45 p.m., before continuing with night practice starting at 10:00 p.m.
