24-HOUR SERIES: IDEC SPORT AT IMOLA THIS WEEKEND

IDEC Sport will be in Italy for the fifth leg of the 24-Hour Series with two cars: the Mercedes AMG GT3 and the Porsche 991 Cup. The two teams will be trying to out-perform their rivals at the Imola 12-Hour Race.

The IDEC SPORT team has not forgotten the Le Mans event because it was so exciting, but now it is time to start to think about what lies ahead. For the second time this season, the 24-Hour Series visits Italy. After Mugello, Patrice Lafargue’s team will be dropping into Imola. The engines will be roaring in the usually quiet town in the Emilia Romagna region when the Enzo and Dino Ferrari circuit comes back to life. Major car racing championships have taken place here, including the F1 championship until 2006.

This weekend, is for GT cars rather than single-seaters. The 24-Hour Series will be racing on the 4.9 km circuit from 30th June to 1st July for the fifth leg of the 2017 season.  Patrice Lafargue and Paul Lafargue will be back with Dimitri Enjalbert aboard the Mercedes AMG GT3 #17, while David Abramczyk, Romain Vozniak and Stéphane Adler will be at the wheel of the Porsche 991 Cup #75.

After the trials on Thursday, the drivers will have an hour to qualify on Friday 30th June from 11.30-12.30. Racing will begin at 3 in the afternoon with an interruption at 7.p.m. The cars will return to the fifteen bends of the Enzo and Dino Ferrari circuit on Saturday at 11 a.m. The competitors will then have eight hours to race around the track before passing the chequered flag.

In the previous four races, the Mercedes AMG only completed one race, making it however to the podium, as the #17 has had a number of mechanical problems. Italy may offer IDEC SPORT another podium place after their success in Mugello. The team in the Porsche will be attempting to continue their successful run after making it to the SP2 class podium at the Paul Ricard circuit.
