ROUTE DU RHUM 2026 – LOGBOOK – DAY 5

Friday 6 November 2026 – Time to recover!

After the efforts of the front crossing, the night brought fewer manoeuvres aboard the Ultim IDEC SPORT-CIC. With no sail changes, Alexia Barrier was able to devote more time to recovering. The maxi-trimaran is behaving well and life on board is settling into a better rhythm to prepare for the rest of the crossing.

Update from Clément Surtel, technical director:

After a test at the end of the day, Alexia kept her sail configuration through the night: full mainsail and J2, on a slightly open reach, with the wind on the beam. “In these conditions, the boat is behaving well.” After the successive sail changes of recent days, this spell eases the load of manoeuvres and frees up time to rest.

This point of sail is not the easiest for sleeping, but Alexia seems to have enjoyed a longer rest during the night. She is also eating well, which is essential after several days of effort and broken sleep.

Preparing for the rest of the crossing:

The weather files still point to a complex finish, which will require her to keep resources in reserve until the very end. This calmer phase offers a precious chance to eat, recover and regain availability for the next efforts on the way to Guadeloupe.
