They’re off. The 123 skippers competing in the Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe set sail at 1300hrs UTC this afternoon in the legendary transatlantic race.
It was a fast start for the Ultimes sailing at 30 knots towards Cape Fréhel (the final mark in North Brittany).
In the latest rankings at 1700hrs UTC, the maxi-trimaran IDEC SPORT was in third place behind Macif and Gitana. The tip of Brittany will be the next step and they are expected to round it in 25-28 knot winds.
