IDEC SPORT, a passion for sport
IDEC SPORT is a separate entity, the sports division of the IDEC Group, which brings together all partnerships under a single banner. Patrice Lafargue has a genuine passion for motorsports, and his competitive spirit has naturally led him to support several other sports, including soccer with Vineuil Football Club, USON Nevers Rugby (which plays in France’s Top 14 league), and Union Poitiers Basket 86, affirming his deep commitment to the values of sports and performance.
IDEC SPORT also has its own racing team, which has competed in numerous championships over several seasons. The team has raced in VdeV with CN and GT prototypes, as well as in the 24H Series. It has also competed in the Michelin Le Mans Cup in LMP3.
IDEC SPORT Racing is now refocusing its program to concentrate exclusively on the LMP2 category in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS). The team regularly fields two prototypes and has been competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for ten years, affirming its ambition and long-term commitment to endurance racing.
IDEC SPORT is also deeply marked by more than twenty years of partnership with Francis Joyon, an exceptional collaboration punctuated by major successes. Among these is the IDEC SPORT maxi-trimaran, holder of the Jules Verne Trophy thanks to a crewed round-the-world voyage completed in 2017 in 40 days, 23 hours, and 30 minutes. Added to this is Francis Joyon’s historic feat in the Route du Rhum in 2018, won solo in 7 days, 14 hours, and 21 minutes.
Continuing its commitment to ocean racing, IDEC SPORT is sponsoring and supporting “The Famous Project” led by Alexia Barrier in 2025/2026, an all-female crew committed to winning the Jules Verne Trophy. Alongside Alexia, the crew brings together seven of the world’s best female sailors, who between them have completed 12 circumnavigations of the globe, set 28 world records, and won 16 championship titles. IDEC SPORT supports this collective of excellence in this major sporting adventure.
IDEC SPORT is also proud to be represented in 2023-2024 by multi-sport athlete Emma Clair Dumont. An accomplished adventurer, she climbed Everest in 2022, ran 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days, and crossed Africa on a quad bike. Since 2020, IDEC SPORT has been supporting disabled athlete Raphaël Beaugillet in his cycling career. Finally, rugby player Axelle Berthoumieu, who plays for the French national team, is also being supported by IDEC SPORT for this new season.
In 2026, IDEC SPORT is launching three new activities: IDEC SPORT CLUB, IDEC SPORT LEGEND, and IDEC SPORT COLLECTION, which will structure and strengthen its historic commitment to the world of classic and competition cars.
