BOOK: FRANCIS JOYON, 16 YEARS OF ADVENTURES AROUND THE WORLD’S OCEANS

With just a few weeks to go to the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe in which he will compete for the seventh time, Francis Joyon is publishing a book. A large coffee table edition dealing with sixteen years of records around all the oceans in the world.

With two solo round the world records (2004 and 2007), and then the crewed record (2017 Jules Verne Trophy) in 40 days, 23 hours and 30 minutes, Francis Joyon is today the fastest sailor in history and the only one to have set the crewed and solo round the world sailing record. Three times holder of the Atlantic record, Francis is also the only sailor to have held all four major solo records at the same time (Round the world, North Atlantic, Columbus Route and 24-Hour record). The skipper who lives in Locmariaquer in Brittany can be proud of achieving the finest sailing successes alongside his loyal partner.

This book confirms this exceptional sailor’s list of achievements, but also that of an extraordinary sponsor, Patrice Lafargue, President of the IDEC Group, who through his commitment, passion and loyalty has enabled these adventures to take place and be successful. 16 years of top class adventures and some amazing feats, but also the difficult moments and dramas all come together in this book with more than 150 photos written by Denis van den Brink, a keen observer of offshore racing and Francis Joyon’s records.
