Francis Joyon and the crew of IDEC SPORT have finally left the Doldrums after increasing their deficit this morning to 84 miles in comparison to the Tea Route record, held by the Italian, Giovanni Soldini and his trimaran, Maserati. Gradually they have picked up the effects of the SE’ly trade winds. IDEC SPORT has been back to above twenty knots since this afternoon and has cut its deficit to just 36.6 miles this evening.
