There is another weekend of racing ahead for IDEC SPORT, which is heading for the legendary Spa-Francorchamps track in Belgium in the framework of the 24-Hour Series. The team will compete in a 12-Hour race spread over two days. Patrice Lafargue, Paul Lafargue and Dimitri Enjalbert will be sharing the steering wheel in the Mercedes AMG GT3.<\/p>\n
There will be no rest for the IDEC SPORT team, who have just returned from the first leg of the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), as they are already preparing for the second meeting in the 2019 24-Hour Series. The LMP2s were unloaded and the trucks emptied and then reloaded. They\u2019re off again to Belgium for the Spa Francorchamps 12-Hour Race. The Mercedes AMG GT3 will be racing in the A6-Pro category (the leading category). It will be driven by Patrice Lafargue, Paul Lafargue and Dimitri Enjalbert.<\/p>\n
The latter just tested the circuit in the Ardennes: \u201cI was in Spa last week as a passenger in a GT3 RS. There have been some interesting little changes, such as a change to the rumble strip and a few other things.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe feel frustrated after Le Mugello (clutch problem) as we were performing well and we want to confirm that this weekend. Spa is a bit like home for us. It\u2019s close by, so we will not be as tired, which is a positive thing for the whole weekend<\/em>,\u201d explained Dimitri Enjalbert, who feels highly motivated. \u201cWe are looking forward to a race where we can do battle with the leaders and end up tired for a good reason. It would be nice to offer the team a place on the podium.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Driving on this 7km track, which is used by F1s and WEC cars and where the world\u2019s best have won, is always a fantastic moment for the drivers, as Dimitri confirmed: \u201cIt\u2019s one of the finest circuits in the world and we\u2019ll be there with a fabulous racing car. It\u2019s exciting. We know we have a lot of support. I can\u2019t wait to see how we pass the Raidillon corner with the Mercedes.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n The large number of cars on the track will be easier to deal with than at Le Mugello because of the length of the track, but they will have to be careful in some sections: \u201cWe have to remain focused. If we catch a slower car as we hit the Raidillon corner, it\u2019s not easy to deal with. \nFour hours of free trials are scheduled for Thursday and one hour on Friday. Qualifying will be down to thirty minutes of racing late on Friday morning. There will then be the first part of the race at 1405hrs. The 44 competitors will set off for 3h50 of racing before returning to the paddock. The second start is on Saturday 20th<\/sup>\u00a0at 1005hrs. The chequered flag will be waved at 1755hrs.<\/p>\n
