Wednesday, December 31 \u2013 IDEC SPORT and Alexia Barrier on their way to Cape Horn!<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The eight women of The Famous Project CIC are diligently pushing forward into the unforgiving South Pacific. This climactic stage of a non-stop round-the-world race is made even more challenging by the unique weather conditions. The wind is no longer whispering, it is howling. The waves pile up and break. IDEC SPORT takes the hits, shakes itself off, and hurtles down the liquid slopes, under the increasingly confident control of its sailors, who are also being pushed to their limits.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Manoeuvre<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Alexia (Barrier), Dee (Caffari), Annemieke (Bes), Rebecca (Gm\u00fcr Hornell), Deborah (Blair), Molly (LaPointe), T\u00e1mara (Echegoyen), and Stacey (Jackson) happily ride the powerful arrival of the low-pressure systems and manage to position their giant trimaran at the best of a raging, wild south\/southwest flow. Their progress eastward, heading for Latin America, is so efficient that they can look forward to 2026 with ambition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"A<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

A highly symbolic marker of their round-the-world voyage is approaching: the famous Point Nemo, the most isolated place on the planet, the furthest from any form of terrestrial life. At their current speed, they will cross it tomorrow evening, Thursday, January 1, and will then be able to set their sights more than ever on the legendary Cape Horn, which they aim to reach on January 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located in the South Pacific, Point Nemo is the point in the ocean furthest from any landmass on Earth. The closest humans are the astronauts aboard the International Space Station.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
