There were rumours that IDEC might pull out along with some other partners, if François Jacob did not return. That is not the case and it was confirmed by the President of Blois Foot 41 on Thursday after he saw Patrice Lafargue at the pit stop for the Le Mans 24-Hour Race. “IDEC remains our shirt sponsor and headline partner for the club. We’ll announce more later, probably in July, when training gets underway again and a third person may well be joining us.”
In other words, another big sponsor may join Blois Foot 41, which may explain that the provisional budget for 2019-2020 (around 1.3 million euros) is slightly more than last season (1.2 million validated). IDEC’s annual commitment was not revealed, but Jacob says it is a five-figure number.
The Blois president also confirméed some bad news in terms of the team: Wilfried Baana-Jaba (1) is leaving for FC Sète, 4th in National 2, in the same pool as his team. Jacob: “It’s always a pity when a great player leaves us, but as each time someone unexpectedly leaves, he will be replaced.”
“We got behind in hiring. Pelleray, Déher, Soumah (not kept), Touncara (left to move to the Marseille area) and now Baana-Jaba. That makes five players have left the club and we don’t have any new names to announce yet,” admitted the president.
(1) Baana-Jaba played for Blois Foot 41 from 2015 to 2019. He palyed in 83 championship matches and scored a total of 45 goals.
